Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek received a check for EUR 103,406 raised in the OTP Round Up fund raising scheme!
After the donation to the hospital in Zadar in the amount of EUR 103,406, today the Osijek Clinical Hospital Centre was also presented a check for the same amount collected in the OTP round up fund raising scheme, which was launched by OTP Bank in cooperation with Mastercard back in 2020. The scheme brought together almost 20,000 donors whose generosity made it possible to procure equipment and refurbish children's wards in Croatia. In addition, support was provided by other initiatives such as the humanitarian chess tournament Damin's Gambit in the Croatian style and the Greencajt conference. Their contributions, together with the initial donations of € 125,000 paid in by OTP banka and Mastercard at the start of each fundraising cycles so far, helped raise almost € 800,000 for children’s wards in 8 hospitals nationwide. In 2024, we are rounding up for the children's wards of the Pula General Hospital and Clinical Hospital Centre Split.
During the fourth cycle of the Round up fund raising scheme completed at the end of December 2023 a total of EUR 206,812 was raised for the procurement of equipment for the General Hospital in Zadar and Clinical Hospital Centre in Osijek. The member of the Board Mr Nikola Mikša, presented the check to the deputy director of the hospital, Ph.D. Krunoslav Šego. Gibonni, our humanitarian and the project ambassador, attended the event.
“I am proud of our bank, which together with Mastercard gathered 20,000 of our clients in this special scheme and together we did so much good this year. Hospitals in Zadar and here in Osijek will now be able to provide even better healthcare to the youngest patients, whose well-being is most important to everyone. I am especially happy that the scheme is continuing, and that after four successful donation cycles, we are already in the fifth, raising funds for children's wards in Split and Pula, which is why I will use this opportunity and invite everyone who has not yet done so, to join us in the rounding up. I also want to thank all the employees here at the hospital in Osijek, who selflessly provide health care and so much attention and warmth to the little patients," - said Mr Nikola Mikša, member of the OTP banka Board.
The purpose of the donation was stated by the deputy director, Ph.D. Krunoslav Šego, MD: "It is with great pleasure that we announce that OTP Bank has paid in the amount of €103,406.00 to the Osijek Clinical Hospital Centre for the purpose of buying a C-arm for the needs of the Paediatric Surgery Department. This valuable donation will be extremely important for improving the medical care we provide to our youngest patients."
“For many years, the Paediatric Surgery Department of the Clinical Hospital Osijek has been dedicated to providing top-notch health care to children with various surgical needs. However, as medical technology and equipment are constantly advancing, it is important to ensure that our hospital has the latest equipment so that we can provide the best possible care to our little patients. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to OTP banka for their generous support and dedication to improving the health care of our community. This donation is a support of immeasurable value for our continuous work in providing top-notch medical care – said the Head of the Paediatric Surgery Department Mr Krešimir Ivković, MD.
In October 2020, in cooperation with Mastercard, OTP banka initiated a large fundraising scheme titled OTP Round Up!, It’s goal is a better and more accessible healthcare at children’s wards in hospitals. The scheme works in a way that OTP banka clients who hold Mastercard cards can round up the sums they pay in their contactless transactions to the nearest whole euro and with each transaction at any point of sale in Croatia or online, the amount of the donation account, opened exclusively for the purpose of this scheme, increases. The maximum amount of donation per transaction is EUR 0.09. The scheme runs in cycles, where the donations collected in each cycle go to two children’s hospitals or children’s wards in hospitals. Each cycle ends at the end of the calendar year, when the funds are credited to the hospitals. The fundraising meter is wound back, but it never starts at zero, given that OTP banka and Mastercard donate EUR 125,000 at the beginning of each cycle. In the first cycle, in 2020, Paediatrics Department of Šibenik Hospital and the Department of Neonatology of Clinical Hospital Centre Zagreb (popularly called Petrova) each received a donation for the purchase of necessary equipment. In the second cycle, in 2021, the raised funds went toward the ultrasound for the paediatric cardiology department of the Children's Disease Clinic of Clinical Hospital in Split and for the refurbishment of the accommodation units of the paediatrics surgery department of the Children's Disease Clinic Klaićeva Zagreb. In 2022, upon completion of the third cycle, a donation was made to procure equipment for the newly refurbished Department of Paediatrics of the Čakovec County Hospital and to procure equipment for the Department of Paediatrics of the Dubrovnik General Hospital. At the end of December 2023, the fourth cycle was completed, and the donated funds were raised for the endoscopy unit at the Department of Paediatrics of the General Hospital Zadar and for the procurement of C-arm for the Paediatric Surgery Department of the Clinical Hospital Osijek.
